Erectile Dysfunction Easy Remedies

Mar 16, 2010
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the inability to maintain an erection during sexual intercourse. It is a frustrating condition for any man who is desirable of having active sexual life. With the growing age, the chances of erectile dysfunction increases. The good news is that erectile dysfunction can be treated at any age! Ayurveda recommends  “Vajikaran therapy” to treat not only erectile or penile dysfunction but also other sexual problems found in men. Vajikaran increases the strength of a man to perform sexual activity with the vigor equivalent to that of a horse (' Vaaji' means horse in Sanskrit). However, if the problem of erectile dysfunction is only occasional, it can be tackled with certain remedies meant for erectile dysfunction. Before knowing these remedies, one must know what is erectile dysfunction and what are its causes so that he may stick to the recommended measures that require certain lifestyle changes as also changes in food habits and physical, mental activities. So, before reading the list of erectile dysfunction remedies given below, make yourself aware about Erectile Dysfunction (Linga Shaithilya)

Do not take physical or mental stress: Stress is one of the major causes of erectile dysfunction. Work towards solving your day to day problems but don't let them destroy or mental peace. Yoga and meditation can reduce and also prevent anxiety, depression and stress. Learn meditation and yoga if you find yourself unable to handle stress.

Make yourself physically active: Avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Exercise daily and regularly. If you can't do heavy exercises, at least take brisk walk for about 40 minutes a day. Many studies state that men who exercise regularly face the problem of erectile dysfunction less than those who do not. Obesity is one of the causes of erectile dysfunction. Exercises will help reduce weight which in turn helps in increasing testosterone level (the male hormone) along with sexual energy and stamina. It keeps diabetes at bay which is also one of the causes of erectile dysfunction.

Do not get addicted to harmful substances: Smoking, too much alcohol, drugs, marijuana, heroin, cocaine etc. all cause erectile dysfunction. Quit smoking and get rid of all other drugs.  Smoking is known for formation of plaques in arteries (atherosclerosis) which obstruct the blood flow (even to the penis). If you can't avoid, at least consume alcohol in moderation.

Change your lifestyle for better: Avoid working for long hours at a stretch. This makes your body muscles weak. Get up from your office seat within regular intervals and walk or indulge in some stress free activities before again going to work. Take a break from regular routine at week ends and spend time with your partner (emotional bonding with your sexual partner is a must. Disliking for her is the major cause of erectile dysfunction). Try to maintain happy and comfortable atmosphere at home which is very essential to stimulate sexual desire and keep you sexually healthy. Sleep for adequate time required by your body. Take herbal oil massage for your whole body at least once a week (if not possible make it once every two weeks). According to Ayurveda, “Abhyanga” or full body massage is the best aphrodisiac. Avoid hot, spicy and bitter foods which imbalance vata (sweet foods are good for sexual desire but watch your weight too while indulging in too much sweets!)

Some Tips for Sexual Activities: Anxiety about 'performance' is a major hindrance in getting and maintaining an erection. Do not fear about not getting hard erections. Don't doubt your ability to satisfy your partner, which leads to psychological erectile dysfunction. If you indulge too much in masturbating, then reduce the frequency of masturbation. Masturbating twice a week is good enough. Do not control your natural urges. If trying to overcome erectile dysfunction, do not indulge in intercourse daily. Give at least 3-4 days gap between two intercourses.

If, after taking all these measures, you do not see any remarkable improvement in your erectile dysfunction, help yourself with some herbal supplements but under expert supervision. Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner before taking any herb for treating erectile dysfunction. Many herbs are considered excellent aphrodisiacs such as Ashwagandha, Safed musli, Shilajit etc. Shilajit, in fact, is known as Indian Viagra for its superb aphrodisiac effects. Ayurveda on How a Baby Gets Bodily Features During Pregnancy?

Mar 4, 2010
It has always been an issue of extreme interest as to how a baby develops week by week during pregnancy stages? Modern medical science has made it possible to track not only the monthly progress of fetus development during pregnancy but also weekly development of fetus in the womb. This is really a work of great help to human kind. However, week by week pregnancy stages can only give a clue about physical growth of a child that is still to born. It cannot explain why every child born has different traits- physical, mental as well as emotional! Some of you might argue that science gives the theory of genes being responsible for differences in human personality. There is no doubt about this fact but then a child also differs with its parents in many respects. A baby's body might respond differently to certain food, medicine or any other thing that comes in contact. What is the explanation for this? Ayurveda, perhaps, has something to say about foetus development during pregnancy and how the basic five elements of the universe (panchamahabhutas) play significant role in the traits a child acquires? Before reading the effects of the five elements on fetus, you might like to learn about pregnancy stages so that you may relate the growth of baby with the traits it acquires due to panchamahabhutas.

What are the Panchmahabhutas?

Ayurveda believes that each and every element of the universe, including human body, is made up of five elements or the Panchmahabhutas. These five elements are

  • Vayu or Air;
  • Agni or Fire;
  • Jal or Water;
  • Prithvi or Earth; and
  • Akash or Sky, the Space or Ether.
How Panchmahabhutas Act on a Fetus?

Vayu or air grants the dosha body type to the fetus. It is this element that decides whether the child will have Kapha dosha type, Pitta dosha type or Vata dosha type body. Amount of 'vayu' in ones body or the capability of retaining or releasing it from body decides the dosha body type of any human being.

Agni or fire decides what will be the metabolism of the baby's body. Metabolism is defined by 'pachana shakti' or digestive capability of the body. How a person reacts to foods is decided in the pregnancy stages itself- if agni is high, the baby will have good digestion power and vice versa. It also decides about body temperature, light and lusture, sharpness, intellect, complexion, and also whether baby would have short temper or not?

Jal or water is called lifeline by Ayurveda. It is responsible for cleansing the entire bodily organs. It decides about the creation of rasa or taste, coldness, softness, moistening ability of the body, blood and semen characteristics, as also of fat, muscle mass and saliva.

Prithvi or earth is solid by nature. It decides on how strong the baby will be- physically as well as emotionally. It decides such structural attributes of the body as heaviness, stability, bones, nails, courage, skin, muscles, body hair etc. It also decides upon the stability and smelling ability of the baby.

Akash or sky is eternal and it represents growth. It is responsible for such attributes of the baby as  lightness, observing power, psych, intelligence, pride as also for lethargy, hearing ability, sleep etc.

So, when an element is in excess or in lesser quantity in the fetus, they affect them in different ways and grant them the body as well as mental and emotional characteristics they have.
